Council is asked to move speed camera and red light camera tickets out of the provincial court system and into the city's own administrative penalty process starting around January 1, 2026. That means disputes would be heard by city screening and hearing officers rather than a court. Approval covers a new penalty bylaw, changes to the hearing officer bylaw, and authority to sign agreements with the province.
