Guelph's six wards
Each ward elects two councillors. The mayor is elected by the whole city. Population figures are the City's own counts, and the change column runs from 2016 to 2022 — worth a look, because the wards have not grown evenly.

Where Ward 5 starts and stops
Ward 5 — St. Andrew's — runs from Waterloo Avenue in the north to Kortright Road in the south, and from Victoria Road in the east out to the city limits in the west.
It is the most mixed ward in the city. It takes in the University of Guelph and the student neighbourhoods around it, Stone Road Mall and the city's largest commercial strip, a slice of downtown, the Speed River and its parkland, established residential streets, and newer subdivisions in the south.
A few streets sit on a boundary and run through more than one ward — Gordon Street crosses four of them. That is why the lookup above asks for your house number when it needs to.
Dates worth putting in your phone
- Nominations close — Friday, August 21, 2026
- The last day anyone can register to run. After this the ballot is set.
- Advance voting — Saturday, October 10 – Sunday, October 18, 2026
- City Hall (1 Carden Street) from October 10 to 15, then one location in each ward plus City Hall from October 16 to 18.
- Election day — Monday, October 26, 2026
- Polls open across the city. This is the last day to cast a ballot.
The official candidate list is maintained by the City at guelph.ca. If anything here and there disagree, theirs is the one to trust — and please tell us so it gets fixed.
