2026 Guelph municipal election

Who's running in Ward 5

7people have registered to run for city council in Ward 5. They're listed below alphabetically, with the website, email and phone number each one filed with the City.

Jon Christensen is one of them, and this is his campaign website — so you should read this page knowing that. It is here because when we looked, nobody had published a straight, current list of everyone running in this ward. The links go directly to the other campaigns, not through us.

Ward 5 council candidates

Ward 5 elects two councillors, so you can vote for up to two names.

Last checked against the City's official list on 2026-07-26. Nominations close on August 21, 2026, so names can still be added or withdrawn until then.

The City's list is the official one — if it and this page ever disagree, believe the City, and please let us know so we can fix it.

You also get a vote for mayor

The mayor is elected by the whole city, so every Guelph voter gets a say regardless of ward.

Where Jon stands

Since you're here: Jon Christensen is running on doing the basics properly — roads and snow clearing that work, density on the arterial roads rather than dropped into established neighbourhoods, real scrutiny of the operating budget, and a University partnership that deals with student housing pressure honestly.

Know a neighbour who hasn't decided?

Pass this along. An informed Ward 5 is good for everyone on the ballot.
