3:07:05And so i'll just ask for that to be put up on the screen by the clerks if you don't mind

3:07:10Uh, so there's there's three portions to it

3:07:13Um

3:07:14That the city of gulf will actively collaborate with the local business community and broader public sector

3:07:20To navigate these challenges through initiatives such as the trade and tariff resource hub

3:07:25Um, I just don't want to give credit or credit stew as well

3:07:28Councillor Busuttil you helped with some of the wording there by adding the broader public sector into that. So thank you

3:07:34Uh, number two that effective immediately that the city of gulf takes steps to avoid wherever possible

3:07:40any new procurements, uh, and from us based companies

3:07:45And the third is that the city of gulf see clarity and support from the province

3:07:49to implement economic countermeasures and

3:07:51Courage by the province to ensure that any changes in municipal procurement policies are consistent

3:07:59Collaborative and do not result in unintended challenges

3:08:05Um with with that I just wanted to

3:08:08Say that you know, I've already said this a few times publicly in the last month and a bit

3:08:13And our staff have through the ceo

3:08:16Has said the same thing

3:08:18But because it's formally in front of us now

3:08:21um, I just want to reiterate that

3:08:24Our staff are already purchasing approximately 98.5 percent from canadian sources

3:08:30With about 29 of that being local

3:08:34and

3:08:35What I think this motions and these these uh, these motions do bring forward for us is just putting a little bit of stake in the ground

3:08:44sending out a message

3:08:46for supporting local

3:08:49And uh, we need to try to rally the community around this as much as that we possibly can

3:08:57It's been already stated that uh

3:09:00The gulf depending on how you look at it is anywhere between the fourth and the sixth most impacted city

3:09:08in terror with tariffs

3:09:10uh in canada

3:09:12So, uh, there's been many and will continue to be a lot of sleepless nights for for many people

3:09:19Not just us as elected officials or or staff, but let's think about the worker on the line

3:09:25You know for that individual their families their support groups

3:09:30um, so it's not just from a government level or a

3:09:34Company level of course it is

3:09:36Right down to the very people that are making the products doing the services within our own community that we must remember

3:09:43And so I would just encourage people that over the last month

3:09:45We've seen an uptake and an uptick and you know buying local supporting canadian keep it up

3:09:52Uh, this is a very big moment for I think not only our

3:09:58Our city but for our province and our country

3:10:01Uh for really rallying around what we can do to support those very local things and those local initiatives

3:10:09Um, I wanted to thank council. Uh, you you've been out there

3:10:14Promoting this too. I've seen it. So thank you very much for doing that

3:10:17But I think as much as uh, you all know me well enough

3:10:20I don't sometimes like these types of support motions that come for it

3:10:24This is a unifying message that is important. I think for our our council and our community and setting this direction and uh

3:10:33So I don't want to belabor the point. I I wanted to make sure that we got to this

3:10:37To finish off our agenda and I just want to thank

3:10:41staff and intergovernmental

3:10:44legal

3:10:45our procurement

3:10:46people

3:10:48That have actually really taken

3:10:50The time to to to build and address this issue in front of us here today to an appropriate

3:10:57Motion that's in front of us

3:10:59There can be knee jerk reactions. I would say from others

3:11:04That I don't subscribe to personally. This is a thoughtful

3:11:08and balanced motion in front of us that is um is appropriate

3:11:14I would say that word is appropriate for us. And so with that I um, I can see councillor Allt is jumping at the

3:11:21Jumping at the mic here. So I I think I'll leave it for me. And that's it on my end

3:11:31I would did over to everything you say but the one thing that I think is very important is for it to be very clear that in

3:11:37procurement policy

3:11:38We are not expressing anti-american sentiments

3:11:42The anger that canadians and people in guelph feel and it's quite universal is against one particular

3:11:48Individual and one particular approach to trade and tariffs and I don't think that should be lost

3:11:53So I would encourage people because we have five or six different breweries here to encourage your american cousins and friends

3:12:01To order beer from our local breweries and that will solve the aluminum procurement problem in the states

3:12:12with that

3:12:14Putting my canada hat on

3:12:18I think we got everybody trying their best to pull out their canadian stuff here in this moment

3:12:23So if you got if you got your stuff, let's do it

3:12:26Show us show a little bit of unity here

3:12:28Um with that is there anything else if not i'm going to call the vote
