2:21:56I just want to acknowledge that the city of guelph is a very diverse municipality

2:22:00And i'm so proud of the work we've done on inclusion and equity in this term

2:22:05We followed the federal schedule of heritage days and months and while there is a federally recognized asian heritage month

2:22:12That designation covers an entire continental area with many cultures and countries

2:22:18Chinese canadians have a robust history of unique efforts in the creation of the railroad

2:22:23Communities and businesses as well as racially specific injustices from our government

2:22:28canada would not be what we are today

2:22:30Without the contributions of the canade chinese canadians

2:22:33And i'm happy to support the work of united hate against united against united against hate canada

2:22:39And the guelph chinese canadian cultural group on the creation of a federal chinese heritage month

2:22:45As the province of ontario made this change in 2024

2:22:49It seems reasonable that the federal government should do the same so that the chinese canadians across the country

2:22:55Get specific recognition for their past and continued efforts. I hope my colleagues will support my motion

2:23:01And let chinese canadians and guelph know that we celebrate them and support this request. Thank you
