2:33:56I first want to thank the staff for answering my questions

2:34:00and providing all sorts of context and background documents.

2:34:03And just to refresh Council's memory,

2:34:06I raised this when we were talking about the cultural plan

2:34:09specifically around the Mitchell Farm

2:34:11as residents in Ward 4 were asking about this

2:34:14and culture in Ward 4, didn't see it in the plan.

2:34:18And so I wanted to work with staff

2:34:20to try to capture some historical things

2:34:25that had meaning in a neighborhood

2:34:28that would be part of our culture.

2:34:30So before I do that though,

2:34:32I did have one question for staff,

2:34:34which was one of the concerns that was raised

2:34:36by the community around a concern

2:34:39that the Mitchell Wood Farmhouse Stone

2:34:43or the Cornerstone specifically

2:34:46have been lost somewhere in the city.

2:34:49If you can speak to that,

2:34:50and I know as I was working on this,

2:34:52I also received a text message as an email

2:34:55as people saying, well, what about the old Niska Bridge

2:34:57and what about this?

2:34:59I don't have that knowledge, that corporate

2:35:02and that historical knowledge.

2:35:03And so if staff could respond.

2:35:09So through the mayor to council and to Councillor Busuttil.

2:35:12So yes, and I'll speak a little bit

2:35:14on behalf of DCO homes as well.

2:35:16So she and I, irrespective of what may occur tonight,

2:35:20have already undertaken a process

2:35:22to make sure that we have a really thorough inventory

2:35:24of all of the city's civic archival

2:35:28or heritage assets, artifacts.

2:35:31Well, we have a very, very good system of storing.

2:35:34It is split across a number of different departments.

2:35:37And we want to have one consolidated inventory.

2:35:39We're going to work with staff, our heritage planning staff,

2:35:42our museum staff, so that we have that good inventory

2:35:45of all of those civic artifacts or archival materials

2:35:49that we have retained over the years,

2:35:51as well as make sure that we have a documented policy

2:35:55on where they can be utilized.

2:35:57And so I don't want to leave anyone with the impression

2:35:59that we don't have a good storage system or a good policy.

2:36:02It's just that we want to make sure

2:36:03that it's documented between our two service areas

2:36:05and that it's one coordinated approach.

2:36:07Specific to the Mitchell farmhouse, yes,

2:36:09I can confirm and reassure that per the agreements

2:36:14that were made at the time when that farmhouse was taken down,

2:36:19that the materials have been retained

2:36:21in a safe and secure location so that they can be utilized

2:36:24at a later date.

2:36:25For example, the production of a caron,

2:36:27I know, is something that had been agreed to,

2:36:29and that is still something that we are planning to do.

2:36:31And so without disclosing specific locations,

2:36:34I can reassure that those materials

2:36:36from the Mitchell farmhouse,

2:36:37as for some of the others that have been referenced,

2:36:40have all been retained.

2:36:41And Ms. Holmes and I have made sure ourselves

2:36:44that we are aware of all of those locations,

2:36:47but through the work that we're gonna do operationally,

2:36:50it will be about consolidating that

2:36:52into one tracked inventory so that we have a good record

2:36:55of everything that we have retained

2:36:57and what it either was intended to be used for

2:37:00or could be considered to be used for in the future.

2:37:10and with the staff support and circulation for consideration.

2:37:16And so one of the questions that I had was why Q2 2025

2:37:21is that we would know the staff,

2:37:23planning staff and heritage staff are really quite busy

2:37:26trying to meet the deadlines.

2:37:28And so 2025 to bring us back a policy

2:37:30was their suggestion of a reasonable timeframe.

2:37:34And so I'd like to place that motion

2:37:36and I believe Councillor Downer has agreed to second it.

2:37:58that considers incorporating such artifacts

2:38:01into public display for adaptive reuse and placemaking

2:38:05in alignment with the existing public art policy,

2:38:09a museum collections policies

2:38:11and report back to council no later than Q2 2025.

2:38:43The definition of public art, the definition of culture,

2:38:46the definition of placemaking are all embedded

2:38:50in our current policies,

2:38:52are all embedded in our strategic objectives.

2:38:55And I think that we have a really big policy gap here

2:39:00that needs to be closed,

2:39:01that brings all of those things together,

2:39:04and the sooner the better, so happy to support.

2:39:13that we didn't bring the motion around during the inventory

2:39:16because that's operational and deputy CEO Clark Bush

2:39:25So of doing an inventory of all of what we have in storage.

2:39:30In consultation with Heritage Guelph and the museum,

2:39:35or Heritage Guelph staff, I should say at the museum staff.
