Prepared at Council's request and offered for information only, this report examines whether Guelph could create a program letting low-income homeowners defer property taxes or have penalties and interest waived. Staff found no other Ontario municipality offering this to all low-income taxpayers and caution it could increase unpaid taxes and tax-sale risk. Over half of Guelph tax accounts are already paid through mortgage companies or pre-authorized plans.

1:41:47Uh, I understand we do have uh
1:41:50Councillor Klassen who'd like to pull that item. So I will recognize councillor Klassen
1:41:58Yes, uh, thank you chair Caron. Um, I only have a very brief statement to make and that is that um, I wanted to pull the report
1:42:06Just to let everyone know that i'm going to work with staff, uh, this month

1:42:39Hopefully uh with a motion
1:42:41Great and thanks for taking the opportunity to announce that publicly so that our community knows that that's going to come up when it returns to

1:42:51Any other further comments or questions about that report?
1:42:56And I do have a view of the chambers, but I don't see any hands up. So unless the mayor indicates that
1:43:03Sure
1:43:06Sure. Well, yeah, why don't uh, we have uh,
1:43:08Councillor Klassen you you kind of
1:43:10You'll move it. How will councillor Caton because uh, it was uh initiated by councillor Caton
1:43:15I think at budget time to get this report. Would you be willing to second councillor Caton?
1:43:20Yeah, perfect. Yes. Yeah, so that's great. So it's been moved and seconded for receipt
1:43:26Are there any opposed to that motion?
1:43:30I don't see any on screen. I'm assuming there's none in the horseshoe. So we'll call that motion carried
