3:03It looks like we are ready to move into

3:06a closed session of council with

3:08only one item being put on the agenda for us to consider.

3:14It is titled proposed employment land acquisition.

3:17Section 2392C of the Municipal Act regarding a proposed

3:22or pending acquisition or disposition of land

3:25by the municipality or local board.

3:27Is there a disclosure of pecuniary interest

3:29or a general nature for that item before we move into closed?

3:34Seeing and hearing none.

3:36Would a councillor be willing to move that for me?

3:42And is there anyone against that?

33:00It is Tuesday, January 28th, 2025.

33:04And we did move into a closed session

33:08just a little bit earlier tonight.

33:10On one item as written on the open agenda,

33:14proposed employment land acquisition.

33:16And so just to give the high level summary from that,

33:19council did receive information on that item.

33:23And based on that, council did give direction to staff.

33:28Okay.

33:29And that's the summary for that.

33:31And so with that, moving along,

33:33we'll go right into, oh, Canada, please.

35:07of silent reflection.

35:21Great, thank you everyone.

35:22And now our territorial acknowledgement.

35:25As we gather, let us take time to reflect on our privilege

35:27to live and work here in Guelph, a city that's built

35:31over rich indigenous histories.

35:32And we are guests here and should reflect upon

35:34the responsibility to care for this land, the people who live

35:37here today and the generations to come.

35:41If our actions today can move us towards reconciliation,

35:43we should take pause and make those decisions

35:45with intention and gratitude.

35:48This place we call Guelph has served as traditional lands

35:50and a place of refuge for many peoples over time,

35:53but more specifically the Aniwaterok and the Hone Noshone.

35:57This land is held as the treaty lands and territory

35:59with the Mississaugas of the Credit First Nation.

36:02And Guelph lies directly adjacent to the Haldemund track

36:05and is part of a long established traditional hunting grounds

36:07for the six nations of the Grand River.

36:10Many First Nations, Inuit and Métis people

36:12who have come from across Turtle Island

36:14call Guelph home today.

36:17And with that, is there any disclosure of pecuniary interest

36:20or any general nature thereof

36:21for the items in front of us today?

36:25Hearing and seeing none.

36:26And for the open session, I did have formal regrets

36:29from Councillor O'Rourke and Clausen.

36:33And with that, we're just jumping right into the minutes.
