CAO Recruitment, Selection and Performance Sub-committee

1:46All right, good afternoon everyone. It's Thursday May 30th, 2024. It is 2 o'clock p.m. And we're

1:53actually meeting as the Chief Administrative Officer Recruitment Selection and Performance

1:58Subcommittee. I'd like to call the meeting to order and to kick things off if we could

2:04please stand if you're able to recognize our national anthem. Thank you. And now a moment

3:40of silent reflection. Great. Thank you. And as we gather, please let us take time to reflect on

3:55our privilege to live and work here in Guelph, a city that's built over rich indigenous histories.

4:00We're guests here. We should reflect upon the responsibility to care for this land,

4:04the people who live here today, and the generations to come. If our actions today can move us towards

4:09reconciliation, we should take pause and make those decisions with intention and gratitude.

4:14This place we call Guelph is served as traditional lands and a place of refuge for many peoples

4:19over time, but more specifically, the Anwaran Rock and the Hone Shoni. This land is held as the treaty

4:24lands and territory with the Mississaugas of the Credit First Nation. Guelph lies directly

4:29adjacent to the Haldeman Track and is part of a long established traditional hunting grounds for

4:34the six nations of the Grand River. Many First Nations Inuit and Métis people who have come

4:39across Turtle Island called Guelph home today. And with that, is there any disclosure of pecuniary

4:45interest or any general nature thereof for the agenda item in front of us today? Seeing, hearing,

4:52none. We have full complement of our committee. And so we are looking right off the top to move

4:56into a closed meeting of the committee. And it is going to be titled 2024 Chief Administrative

5:05Officer Recruitment and Candidate Profile Update. And that's under Section 2392B and I of the

5:12Municipal Act related personal matters related to identifiable individual, including municipal

5:18or local board employees, a trade secret or scientific, technical, commercial, financial,

5:23or labor relations information supplied in confidence to the municipality or local board.

5:30Which one of my colleagues is going to throw up their hand to move into? Thank you, Councillor

5:35O'Rourke and Councillor Caton is going to second that to move into close. Is anyone against that?

5:42That would be nobody and unanimous. So we will move into a closed session

5:46under that agenda item and we will come out later for a high level summary. Thank you very much.

58:52Okay. I'll just call the meeting back to order here in the open session. And for the summary of

58:59the committee, we had a just a fulsome discussion in regards to the agenda item that was listed and

59:04why we went back into closed and included us just giving direction to staff and the recruiter. So

59:13that's it for the update at this time and it looks like we won't be getting together

59:19for another few weeks and that's something pops up. So thank you to the committee and to staff.

59:24And with that, that's my summary and I just looked to one of my colleagues to

59:29throw up a hand there for adjournment. That would be Councillor Caton.

59:33Pardon me, Mr. Mayor. Sorry for that disruption. There's just one set of open meeting minutes on

59:37the agenda. Oh, there is the opening meeting. I went to the wrong.

59:39And a general receipt motion after that prior to adjournment.

59:42And here it is. The CAO recruitment selection and performance subcommittee meetings held May 7th

59:47and 15th, 2024, being confirmed as recorded and without being read. And I will still go to

59:54Katen and Alt moving those for me. Is there any issues on those minutes? Seeing none. Hearing
